ABOUT THE ARTIST
There is an air of intrigue when you look the part or come off in such a way and call yourself an artist. At that point you get to see the work and then there is so much to talk about.
Since I was a boy I was curious and tried to deconstruct everything. Ripping apart toys and staring at paintings. How did they do that? While in college I took a painting class and relaxed a bit, just letting the paint flow and my hands do the work. My concentration was graphic design, but my professors who saw my paintings said no matter what I do, keep painting. I listened and now while I do many other things I always keep a canvas setup in my studio.
It takes months even a year for me to finish a painting. A few weeks is just spent setting up the composition and preparing the canvas, the rest is an hour at a time drawing and painting.
I emphasize simple, less is more philosophy. It might be a very busy canvas but the process is what I’ve simplified. Never massage the canvas or apply too much detail. Concentrate to make it appear like the paint was applied as if I was drunk and didn’t care. If I have chosen a subject, composed it well, mixed fair colors then the effort is effortless do to my own natural abilities. Mindfulness is before the action takes place, very simple.
